Ditching Myths

I can’t even remember where I came across this.  I opened the tab on my browser about a week ago and left it up assuming I’d read it eventually.  I just did.  It’s a pretty neat article (backed up by NTSB data) on the odds of surviving the ditching of a small aircraft.  It uses the statistics to dispel a lot of myths on the subject.  Very relevant for us in Western Washington, as we’ve got a lot of ocean around here, and the San Juan Islands are one of the prettiest places in the world to fly to.  Anyway, here’s the really really short summary:  you’ve got about 90% chance of surviving a ditching in a small plane.  Click here to read…
